Our Founders

At the heart of Mama Kuku’s Homestead is a love story as unexpected and beautiful as snail trails at sunrise.

Ozi, a Nigerian-born artist and storyteller with roots that reach deep into ancestral foodways, crossed paths with Brian, a tall, quad-skating, energetic scientist with a heart full of data. They met on a cold afternoon at Lewisville State Park. Ozi, used to Texas terrain, did a double take—was he on stilts? No, just skates. Tall and gliding like a gentle giant from another dimension. That moment sparked the beginning of an improbable and poetic journey.

Brian grew up in rural Pennsylvania, working alongside Amish neighbors and finding wonder in the natural rhythms of the land. With over two decades of laboratory and statistical experience, he brings rigor, curiosity, and a pinch of geeky magic to everything he touches—especially now, heliciculture.

Together, they co-founded Texas’ first escargot farm, where art meets agriculture, and data meets dirt. Ozi’s design and storytelling guide the soul of the farm, while Brian’s scientific brain ensures every system is not just efficient, but regenerative.

Whether they’re turning compost or formulating snail mucin skincare together, their chemistry is unmistakable. As a blended family, they’re not just building a farm—they’re building a future that’s slow, intentional, and full of love.
